You can visit buildings from XIX century. I’m surprised because that building have the usual garden in the front of the actual buildings. You can visit a shoesmaker’s house, a chemist and a doctors clinic, a police barrack, a bicycle repairer, a clothing factory (in the video) and farms with cows, pigs, hens, goats..

The entrance is 7 pounds, and 3,5 if you have a concession (student or retired).

Night pictures from the satellite show the luminosity of the villages and cities. And the situation of their economy.  For example, in the picture, you can see whit high definition the coast line in Europe, more developed than the inside the peninsula. Even, you can see the shape of the Nile river.

Some researchers from Brown University (USA) are trying to take this information to complete the statistical data about the more poor economies. Usually, this economies have bad statistical dates. Researchers analyse the relation between the light growth  of the cities and their economic growth.  A complex goal. And a interesting goal.

If there were only 100 people in Ireland, 55 of them would be speaking only English, 39 of them would be speaking mainly English, and occasionally Irish, 2 of them would be speaking mainly Irish and one would be speaking Polish. Three would be speaking other languages.

If you want to improve  your English, but you can’t understand the oral language well enough, you can accompany films and series with subtitles. Main way is, if you have the film / series in DVD, put the sound in English and the subtitles in English, too.

If you haven’t the DVD, it’s very easy:

• Download the film / serie with eMule or Bittorrent (search torrents with The pirate bay)
• Download the subtitles (.srt extension) with some pages like OpenSubtitles.
• Put video and .srt file in the same folder, with the same name but different extension (xxx.avi and xxx.srt).
• Download the K-Lite codecs and install. Your media player, like Windows Media Player, will understand that .srt are the subtitles of the film.
• Play the video, learn English and enjoy.
• If you observe that the subtitles and the film aren’t synchronized, you can correct with SyncSub

Belfast:

• You must visit the republican murals in Falls Road. You can take an Irish political tour (recomended).
• You can visit the Irish cultural center Cultur lann. They have free guides with the map of Belfast murals.
• You can visit the loyalist murals, in Sandy Row. With the monument for the loyalist paramilitia.
• For its historical meaning, it’s interesting the dry dock where was built The Titanic.
• Visit the Belfast Castle. And it’s recommended,  despite the elevation,  Cavehill (in the summer you have natural light until 22 p. m.). It has an amazing view of Belfast, and a great forest, strange in Northern Ireland, rich in meadows .
• It’s essential to drink a pint of Harp (the local beer) or Guiness (black beer from Dublin) in Kellys or Madness, two centric pubs with Irish history in their walls.

Derry, Giants Causeway and Carrick-a-rede:

We are going to visit north coast by ourselve. We will rent a car for 50 pounds.

• We are going to go north along the coast, following in secondary roads, to visit the natural phenomen of Giants Causeway and the bridge of  Carrick-a-rede.
• Then, we are going to Derry, to a centric restaurant opened sundays, where you can have traditional Irish breakfast for lunch In Derry you can visit  the Bloody Sunday museum, the murals, the Tower museum with the History of Ireland, and the Spanish Armada (Armada Invencible)… You can finish the visit with a pint in Sandinos (map), a pub with traditional Irish life music in Sundays.

Dublin

• You can visit Kilmainham Goal, where the movie “In the name of father” was filmed. In the summer, the last group can enter at 17h. More information.
  
• In Wikitravel you have more information. Somebody recommended  to me the University and the parks. Some people have told me that the Castle tell me not worth.

I’m discovering the city without maps. And I have read very little about the city and its history.  I can read about Belfast this summer, I can come back to the places, I can take more pictures…  I’m going to write here about this visits.

You can visit Belfast walking. But this days I have been walking very much. Are usual 10 and 15 kilometers everyday, going sightseeing. I have problems, but this is usual in Ireland, with the rain. I arrive soaked some days at home. Nevertheless, the weather allows dressing, in July, a t-shirt during the day  (15-20º). And you can walk with a fine jersey at nights.

I want to explain here everything that is striking me: the churches, the English accent in Ireland, the rain, the supermarkets, the prices, the driving, protestant parades, the University, the port, the situation of language (Gaelic Irish), the meals, the construction of houses, the city, politic murals, how to arrive at Belfast, cultural activities, public transport, national conflict, armed conflict, politic parties… we have a lot of time!
